Unsung Hero Award

East Grinstead Memorial Estate Ltd Chairman, Lloyd Richards presented Richard Tramontin, Chairman of East Grinstead Football Club the Unsung Hero award. With over 22 years of dedicated service to the Town’s principal football club he is a worthy winner and will be the beneficiary of £750 for club funds and £100 of Waitrose vouchers for himself.
The other nominations, all local volunteering heroes in their own right were :-
– Jeannie Bizzell – Meridian FM
– Jim Dorrington – East Grinstead Runners
– Kirsty Chapman – Commonwealth War Graves volunteer and Armed Forces Breakfast Club.

General Dates in the Season
- Early March to end of July – Bird nesting season. Tree felling is kept to a minimum
- April – The Litter Pick
- September – Meadow mowing and raking
- Early Autumn – Pond work whilst the ponds are still low and the residents are no longer living fast paced lives
- December – The Xmas Task
- Summer – Reduced activity as volunteers are away and cutting is restricted
