EGMEL Grants

Each year East Grinstead Memorial Estate Limited (EGMEL) makes Charitable donations appropriate to its resources. Since 2020 we have made local grants totalling nearly £100,000.

A list of the donations previously made are shown on the Past Grants page.

We invite local organisations to apply for our consideration of a grant.

Eligibility & grant guidelines

Please read carefully before submitting your application.
These guidance notes are a summary of EGMEL’s present approach to awarding grants. They will be subject to periodic review and do not replace or alter our objectives.

Amount of grant?

The demand for grants always exceeds the funds available and grants made to previous applicants will be taken into account.

When can I apply for a grant?

EGMEL awards grants once a year. For 2025 the opening date is 28th February and closing date is 31st March. EGMEL will respond by the end of May and payments will be made by the end of June.

EGMEL will consider supporting the following causes:

  • the relief of hardship (to include debt relief)
  • the support of the engagement by all in sport
  • development of young people
  • support for the elderly and disabled

General conditions

  • Organisations must be benefitting people from the East Grinstead and the surrounding area
  • Grants will normally be made where it is evident that efforts have been made, or are being made, to also raise funds elsewhere. Determined efforts to raise money elsewhere or to demonstrate match funding will be helpful; we are happy to discuss these with you if you are unable to put in writing.
  •  Grants made to applicants in earlier years will be taken into account.
  • EGMEL encourage you to tell us how your projects and activities are progressing and also for us to see firsthand the completion – where appropriate.
  • EGMEL reserve the right to cancel a grant if it appears that the project is not likely to proceed in the foreseeable future, or to impose a date by which conditions must be met.
  • Agreement for any change of use for the funds awarded MUST be sought from EGMEL who will consider the request on its merits. We appreciate circumstances and needs change, so please discuss with us at the earliest opportunity.

Applications should be made to: grants@egmel.co.uk

Payments

  • Payments will ONLY be made by BACS transfer.
